Staff profile: Project Management, Ashleigh
This is the first in a new series of staff profiles we shall be sharing. A little insight into the hardworking staff behind your publications. We hope you enjoy reading!
How long have you worked for Wearset and what did you do before?
I have worked at Wearset for just under two years now. Before that, I was a bookseller at Waterstones Newcastle.
What does a typical working day involve?
My working day involves replying to emails and planning what needs to be done on that day (and the next), sending out proofs to authors, answering queries, collating proof corrections, managing budgets, scheduling projects and keeping in contact with our freelancers.
What has been your favourite project so far, and why?
It’s hard to choose, but anything relating to English literature, narratives and stories capture my interest.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
If I was ever worried about anything, my Granddad would always tell me ‘what will be, will be’.
What’s your favourite book or quote from a book?
‘The road to Manderley lay ahead. There was no moon. The sky above our heads was inky black. But the sky on the horizon was not dark at all. It was shot with crimson, like a splash of blood. And the ashes blew towards us with the salt wind from the sea.’(Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca).
What’s the best thing about the North East?
The weather: it’s constantly sunny here! I’m afraid this is a bad joke, but once you do catch the sun the North East has lovely beaches to visit.
